U20 League: UCD AFC 2-1 Bray Wanderers

UCD came back from a goal down to earn a hard fought 3 points in the latest round of fixtures in the Under 20 Championship. Samir Belhout doubled UCD's goal tally after James Scallon had pulled UCD level. Bray Wanderers went ahead shortly after the half time break.

UCD dominated the first half and created chance after chance but continued their recent trend as they failed to convert time and again. Samir Belhout was at the thick of the action as twice he found himself in space but his effort drifted wide of the goal. Two efforts from Danny Fallon led to a similar end result with a speculative long range shot flying well over and a close range header just missing the target.

Barry McCabe's free kick caused panic in the Bray ranks and nearly ended up in the net. Bray took a surprise lead when a break into the UCD area lead to a penalty for the Wanderers. It was successfully converted and UCD found themselves 1-0 down.

The second half saw more UCD pressure and eventually the breakthrough came. James Scallon latched onto a through ball and finished expertly. UCD continued to press forward and Belhout finally converted a chance at the right time. The ball fell to him in the area following a Stephen Doyle corner and he left the Bray shot stopper with no chance.

One nil down to two one up, it was a battling performance from the Students who never gave up and got their reward in the end, leading UCD's first team Striker David McMillan to quip, "Saved by the Bel-hout!"
